Green Workforce Program Launches in Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — City officials, community leaders, and workforce trainees gathered Thursday at Cranbury Park to launch Norwalk’s Green Workforce Training Program, an innovative initiative that combines environmental stewardship with economic opportunity.

The program is a partnership between the City of Norwalk, Keep America Beautiful, and Open Doors, with funding from the USDA Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Equity Grant, administered by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). It will provide 100 hours of paid training in landscaping and urban forestry to residents facing employment barriers.
