Open Doors welcomes Norwalk community to enjoy a sit-down Christmas meal
News release from The Hour:
Open Doors, a nonprofit in Norwalk that provides hot meals and runs an emergency shelter, was true to its mission as it literally opened the doors to serve a sit-down holiday meal.
Staff and volunteers welcomed local residents on Monday afternoon at 98 S. Main St. to celebrate the Christmas and Hanukkah seasons with a hot meal.
For both Thanksgiving and Christmas, Open Doors also distributed baskets that contained all the fixings that residents in need could use to prepare holiday meals at home.
Open Doors, a Norwalk-based nonprofit, is designed to provide supportive services that bridge the gap between homelessness and housing. Its services include hot meals, emergency shelter, free clothing, case management and more.
Earlier this month, Open Doors broke ground on a $3 million project to build five new townhomes at the 24 Berkeley St. that will increase the housing stock for low-income renters.
