Berkeley Affordable Housing Project Reaches Major Construction Milestone
Open Doors is making significant progress on the Berkeley Project, a new affordable housing development in Norwalk that will create five three-bedroom homes for local families. The project represents an important step toward expanding affordable housing opportunities in Fairfield County.
There is exciting progress to report at the Berkeley Project in Norwalk, Connecticut.
After years of planning, redesign, approvals, and site preparation, the project has officially moved into vertical construction. Visitors to the site can now see significant visible progress as the building begins to take shape.
Foundation work has been completed, first-floor framing is in place, and construction crews are now working on second-floor framing. Additional framing, sheathing, and structural work will continue throughout the coming months.
For Open Doors, this milestone represents more than construction progress—it represents future housing opportunities for local families.
"Every new affordable housing unit represents an opportunity for a family to build stability, put down roots, and create a brighter future in Fairfield County," said Michele Conderino, CEO of Open Doors. "Seeing the Berkeley Project rise from years of planning into a visible reality is an exciting reminder of what can be accomplished when a community invests in housing solutions."
Once completed, the Berkeley Project will create five new affordable housing units, each with three bedrooms. These homes will help address the need for larger-family affordable housing in our community and provide long-term housing stability for families who may otherwise struggle to find housing that meets their needs.
The project continues to move forward on schedule with ongoing coordination among the construction team, architect, owner's representative, and Open Doors staff. We remain committed to monitoring progress closely and ensuring the development stays on track.
As construction advances, we look forward to sharing additional updates and celebrating future milestones with our community.
