Norwalk’s Open Doors celebrates housing over 100 people in a year: ‘Symbol of hope’

This week, Open Doors belatedly celebrated Juneteenth and honored successful housing from homelessness.

“You have to celebrate these victories,” said J.P. Rossi, coordinator of The Social at Open Doors. “It is monumental when you get your first lease, when you get your apartment and you’re able to really control your life. It is a massive, massive stepping stone for people and oftentimes it is the first of many, many victories they’ll have. But it’s hard to do anything when you don’t have a house.”

Since last July, [Open Doors Executive Director Michele] Conderino said Open Doors has sheltered 173 people and housed 108.
